Mobidec

Ligne Roset's Mobidec, a footstool specially designed by Pierre Charpin for the ‘MobiBoom’ exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs (23.09.10 – 02.01.11),  was dedicated to the explosion of French design between 1945 and 1975. Quite evidently, the design of this footstool borrows from the equestrian world – which, is renowned as a guardian of artisanal tradition. . Resembling a slightly truncated pommel horse (or a saddle), the seat rests on a metal base which lifts it from the ground, the design of which is reminiscent of stirrups. A fabric strap, matching the footstool, encircles the seat, fixed to these ‘stirrups’, and serves as a handle to enable Mobidec to be lifted and moved with ease.
